  • Year 12 Work Experience Placement

    Published 14/04/26

We are pleased to inform you that Year 12 students will be taking part in Shelley College’s Work Experience Programme this academic year. Work experience placements will be taking place from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July.

Any students who remain in school during this week will follow their normal sequence of lessons. It is therefore essential that students secure a placement to make the most of this valuable opportunity.

In order to secure your child’s placement, we are asking you to submit your consent via this Microsoft Form (https://forms.office.com/e/BFGWmUDTZx ) so that we can liaise directly with employers to collect the required paperwork.

Further guidance - including email/letter templates, telephone scripts, FAQs, and a list of potential employers – has been emailed to students.

    Important Logistics

    • Students must first agree their placement with an employer and then you must add the details through the Microsoft Form.
    • After the form is submitted, the school will contact the employer to collect the necessary Risk Assessment, Health & Safety information and permissions.
    • It is vital that the initial information submitted is accurate, and that employers are informed we will be contacting them.
    • If an employer requires an application by email or letter, students must complete this and receive confirmation before submitting the placement via the form. Supporting resources are available on the school website.

Next Steps for Students and Parents

    • Please read the placement guidance and begin contacting potential employers as soon as possible.
    • If you have any questions, please contact our Work Experience team through shelley.workexp@sharemat.co.uk
    • We strongly advise students to arrange a pre‑placement visit outside school hours - such as during the Easter holiday - to gain familiarity with the workplace.

    Work Experience Timeline

    • March 2026 – Launch of Work Experience
    • March – May 2026 – Students MUST source a placement
    • Friday 22nd May 2026– Deadline for completing the student placement Microsoft Form
    • May – June 2026 – Careers/Admin team complete checks; students visit placements where possible
    • Week commencing 6th July – Students attend their work experience placement

The final deadline to find a placement and complete the student form for none-NYBEP students is Friday 22nd May.

Thank you for your support throughout this process.

    Yours faithfully,
Miss Stocks and Mr Day (The Shelley Careers Team)
