The Snow Ball

In October a group of Year 11 students began to learn how to ballroom dance. Every Tuesday evening after school they came to learn dances such as the Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Rock n Roll to name just three.

We then held a ball at school so that they could demonstrate their new found skills to their family, friends, teachers and other members of the community. They came onto the dance floor to the Strictly Come Dancing theme tune to receive applause from all their audience. They then showed off their talents. They were remarkably brave, they looked absolutely amazing and they were a credit to the school, their families and to themselves.

We had a Salsa demonstration from friends of mine, who showed us all a thing or two. For the rest of the evening the audience and our students joined in and danced the rest of the night away. You wouldn’t believe our dining hall could look the way it did and have the atmosphere that it had; it was a magical evening.

The evening had been a charity event, all ticket sales and donations were for a charity very close to my heart, the Motor Neurons Disease Association. By the end of the evening we had raised over £1300. I would like to personally thank all those involved, but especially the students, they were wonderful; I was and still am very proud of all that they achieved.
