Médecins sans Frontières Charity Blanket Raffle:

Médecins sans Frontières Charity Blanket Raffle

The project started in September 2008 when a group of sixth form students started to learn to knit. From there we graduated to producing squares, and co-opted more members - from Grandmas to generous local businesses who donated wool for the project. Soon we had enough squares to produce a blanket which we raffled to raise funds for Médecins sans Frontières.

Médecins sans Frontières is an independent humanitarian medical aid organisation committed to providing medical aid where it is most needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender. The funds we raise could be used to provide food, medical help or clean water for families struggling to survive.

The raffle raised £400 in total, and we have been able to organise a visit from the Head of Fundraising fro MSF UK, James Kliffen, who is travelling up from London on December 1st to accept the cheque and to talk to us about the impact of fundraising for communities in crisis. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to listen to someone who has first hand experience of the projects we read about.

In the run up to this visit, the MSF Charity Blanket Moodle site will be available with recent news and forums for discussion.
