A tough challenge: ‘Dismantle and re-build a wall, well over a ton of rock, into a sheep-proof barrier. Only seven hours to complete the task’…
Eleven year ten students rose to this challenge on Friday 16th July, and despite the rain, crushed fingers and aching backs, all were judged by Mr Nigel Goody, Master Craftsman from the Dry Stone Walling Association, to have successfully completed and gained a Level One Certificate in dry Stone Walling.
Prior to the seven hour exam the students had four days instruction and training provided by brother and sister Cuthbert and Lydia Noble, both students of Shelley College (Yr13 and Yr10 respectively).
Well done!
