Need some advice… We can help…
The Connexions Personal Advisers at Shelley College are Lindsey Woodward, Vicky O’Sullivan and Judith Triner. We work with students in Years 9 -13 providing career-related, impartial information, advice and guidance. We can help you with career planning and signpost you to a range of support services for young people.
Main area of work in school
In school, we work mainly with Year 11 students; helping to make sure they are aware of all their post 16 options and supporting them with their career plans. We offer at least one individual appointment, either in Year 10 or Year 11; some students are seen in small groups in Year 11. Appointment cards are forwarded via tutors; however, self-referrals are welcome, so please let us know if you would like an earlier appointment or if you feel you would benefit from a second interview.
Work with other school years
If you are a student in Year 9, or Year 10 you can come along to the drop-in service every lunchtime in the Careers Room; or alternatively, email us to request an appointment.
If you are in the Sixth Form you can call in to the careers room where you can sign up for an appointment. The appointment booking sheet is on the wall near the door in the careers room. If you cannot make any of the time slots on the booking sheet please email us to request an appointment.
Other contacts during the school year
We also provide advice and guidance for students and their parents/carers at various key events through the school year such as Year 11 Parents’ Evening, Sixth Form Open Evening and the GCSE Option Evening.
When we are available
There is usually one of the Connexions Advisers in school every day and during the school holidays we are based at the Huddersfield Connexions centre in town and can be contacted on 01484 226800.
