Shelley College Record Exam Results

75% A* - C GCSE (Including English & Maths)

GCSE

75% A*-C grades (including English & Maths), with a significant number of students achieving A* and A grades in all their GCSE subjects.

Best results ever, with an increase of 11% from 2010, making us one the of the most successful secondary schools in Yorkshire.

99% gained 5 or more GCSE passes.

A level

2011 results place us in the top 25% of 6th form providers in the country.

Over 35% of grades were A* to B.

97% pass rate.

The vast majority of students have moved onto Higher Education or employment, with a significant number achieving the grades required by the most prestigious Universities in the country.

SPORTS NEWS

GIRLS FOOTBALL

On Wednesday the under 15's team lost 7-4 to Laurence Jackson school in the quarter finals of the English schools cup with goals from Brodie Simpson (3) and Ebony Baranowski (1). Well done to all the squad for a remarkable achievement.

6TH FORM FOOTBALL

On Wednesday the 6th form team drew 3-3 with Penistone with goals from Adam Lightowlers (2) and Ryan Clarke (1). On Tuesday this week the team play St. John Fisher away.

BADMINTON

On Monday the year 9 and 10 teams finished third in the Kirklees schools final. Well done to all involved.

BOCCIA

On Tuesday the under 16's team play in a tournament at Newsome High School.

HOCKEY

On Tuesday the under 14's team play in a tournament at Lockwood Park.

TRAMPOLINING

Well done to the under 16's squad who recently finished fourth in the North of England finals in Newcastle.

Dear Parent/Carer.

Our next Professional Futures Talk is with Dr Michael Snowden from The University of Huddersfield. He will enlighten us on the range of courses on offer within the field of Health and Communication Studies leading to community development posts such as substance mis-use, children and family engagement, housing officer, youth and justice work, peer mentor and learning mentor roles. Other students have progressed to post graduate social work, radiology and teaching. This is in addition to nursing and midwifery.
