The Physics department follow the Edexcel Physics course. The course is divided into 2 year long courses AS and A2. Each year students will study 3 modules; 2 taught modules and 1 coursework module. Each of these is outlined below:

AS Module 1: Physics on the Go – Mechanics and Materials.
AS Module 2 : Physics at Work – Waves, Electricity and the nature of Light.

The above modules account for 40% of the AS grade.
If a student continues to A2 they will account for 20% of the overall A2 grade

AS module 3 : Exploring Physics - This is a coursework module and it internally assessed and externally moderated.

Module 3 accounts for 20% of the AS grade and 10% of the overall A2 grade.

A2 Module 4 : Physics on the Move – Further mechanics, Fields and Particle Physics
A2 Module 5 : From Creation to Collapse : Astrophysics & Thermal Energy

Each of the above modules account for 20% of the overall A2 grade

A2 Module 6 : Experimental Physics - This is a coursework module and it internally assessed and externally moderated.

Module 6 accounts for 10% of the overall A2 grade.

Students will be supported throughout the course with a revision book, past exam questions, iMOD’s and Moodle courses.
